Robert “Rob” Homman is a seasoned fire service professional, educator, and leader with experience in emergency services, fire instruction, and public safety leadership since 1988. A resident of Utica, Ohio, Rob lives with his wife of 24+ years and their family dogs and is the proud father of two stepsons and twin son and daughter.
Rob began his career in public service in 1988 as a volunteer firefighter in Bigler, Pennsylvania, following four years of service in the United States Air Force. He later served in the United States Army during Operation Desert Storm before relocating to Ohio to pursue his goal of achieving full-time firefighter.
In 1995, Rob joined the City of Whitehall, Division of Fire, where he built a distinguished career and ultimately retired in 2024 with the rank of Lieutenant. Passionate about training and mentorship, he became a State-Certified Fire Instructor in 2000 and has worked extensively with career center and firefighter training programs throughout Ohio. In 2001, he began teaching for the State of Ohio Fire Academy, further expanding his impact on the next generation of fire and EMS professionals.
In 2010, Rob was named Program Coordinator for the Knox County Career Center, where he led a comprehensive modernization of the fire and EMS curriculum. His expertise in training and live-fire operations also led to his involvement with the Insight team, which he officially joined in 2022 after serving as the team’s Ignition Officer at Firehouse Expo in 2021 and 2022.
Continuing his commitment to community service and leadership, Rob was appointed Fire Chief of the newly established County Line Joint Fire District (CLJFD) in Utica, Ohio, in August 2023. Under his leadership, CLJFD officially began responding to emergency calls on January 1, 2024.
